Adrien Rebord is specialised in development projects. He also works on project management, on developing solutions for business restructuring and on management support in the fields of hospitality and tourism. More specifically, he had the opportunity to complete feasibility studies, project implementation and evaluations of professional training in hospitality through various missions in Palestine, Vietnam and Lao PDR.
Before specialising in professional training in hospitality, Adrien developed his knowledge of the hospitality industry in Switzerland, Spain and by working in the Research and Analysis department of STR Global in London. He participated in various strategic consulting missions and for the International Olympic Committee, in preparation for the 2012 games.
Adrien is Swiss and holds a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management from Ecolehôtelière de Lausanne, with a specialisation in finance, and an Executive Master in Development Policies and Practices at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
Auke Thijssen started his professional career in sustainable development in hospitality as project manager for Koto, Vietnam. KOTO is a Non-profit organization (HCM, HANOI), equipping underprivileged youth with excellent hospitality skills applicable in the five star segments. Auke was responsible for a Poverty Alleviation plan creating a social hospitality college. Institute design, operations, implementation and completion were the main focus points while improving the career opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
Before working on training programmes he gained experience in hospitality in Dublin, Ireland working in the five star hotel segments. In the Netherlands he was involved with the development of several new catering companies and start-up restaurants in Amsterdam, developing the operation and conceptual design. One of his last projects took him to Tuscany, Italy working together with an innovative team that created a new pop-up hotel concept in the mountains of Northern Italy.
Auke is Dutch and holds a Bachelor of Science in International Hospitality Management from Hotel School The Hague in Netherland.
Tshering Dema is responsible for the operations and academics of the food production department with a particular emphasis on quality control. She has more than 5-year experience as a kitchen chef at Uma resort Paro, one of Bhutan’s finest 5 star hotels. During this period, she was responsible for the breakfast, lunch, hot and cold section with an average of 63 guests per serving. As a chef she was overseeing her own sections inventory, purchasing, training of new staff and overall organization. She has special technical knowledge concerning Bhutanese and international cuisine.
Bakery & Pastry instructor
Kelzang Dorji is instructor of food production at BIHT and responsible for the Bakery & Pastry section. He assists the head instructor in the daily operations, teach the students with practical demonstrations and manage the kitchen during one shift. He has more than 7 years of work experience in different hotels in Bhutan where he was responsible for dinner service and training new apprentices. He always tried to improve his skills by looking for pastry chefs and non-vegetarian restaurant but his specialty remains vegetarian dishes and Indian cuisine.
Food & Beverages service instructor
Tschering Phuntsho ensures that the restaurant operates efficiently and profitably while maintaining its reputation and high standards. He is responsible for training and theory classes related to food and beverage. Before joining Bongde Institute of Hotel and Tourism, Tshering worked for more than six years for Amankora in Paro and Punakha. He also occupied several management positions before leading the pre-opening of a hotel in Bhutan. Through these experiences, he conducted initial staff training with the guidance of several hospitality consultants in Bhutan and continuous training for several departments. Tshering has a particular ability to provide a high level of guest service and puts emphasis on explaining Bhutanese culture through the dishes.
Dita Rupa Darjee,
Dita Rupa Darjee is responsible for the housekeeping training, from academics to operations, to students and human resources. Before joining Bongde Institute of Hotel and Tourism, Rupa worked for more than 10 years in the housekeeping department of Amankora in Punaka. Through this senior position, she was often in charge of training new staff as well as supervising the work of other housekeepers. She has also been a monk teacher for more than two years and has a particular attention to details when checking the rooms.
Front Office Instructor & Assistant Manager
Pema Lhamo is responsible for guest attendance, front office training and theory classes. She also assists the management planning, organizing and controlling the quality of hotel operations. Before joining Bongde Institute of Hotel and Tourism, Pema worked for the opening of Uma in Bhutan but also gained field experience in Thailand, Maldives and Dubai. As Front Office supervisor, she ensured staff training and knowledge development to facilitate guest experiences. She has also particular skills for public relations.
